Long time no blog Mr. Xanga... Life is good. Summer vacation is a blast.. just chilling at home, relaxing.. playing some PS3.. absolutely love it. With the apparent death of one of my hobbies (Heroclix).. it seems that a new hobby is in order. Actually, Heroclix hasnt died.. they just arent making anything new.. there's still like 3,000+ figures out there... but i think ive done my share of collecting for now.. So what new game to partake in you might ask? Well, as nerdy as it sounds, ive taken a real liking to Warhammer 40,000. Its a fun miniature table top game which involves some strategy, some luck, and tons of mini painted guys. So when you walk into the store, you see all these awesomely painted figures all over the place and you think, HOT DAM! These guys look amazing! Well, let me just tell you its kind of a pain to sit there and paint them.. especially when your team needs around 20+ guys and you have to assemble, glue, primer, paint, wash, and seal them yourself. Aside from that aspect of the game, the game itself is actually fun to play. And some of the figures out there are really amazing looking. So heres what ive got/done so far:
The five painted space marines.. yea yea.. almost like the Power Rangers.. haha.
The Captain a.k.a "Goldy"
"Big Red"
The green guy (No name as of yet)
"Big Blue"
"Ghost" Ive painted 5 space marines (out of 8). Each one took roughly 45 minutes to do. The whole process goes like this. First, you open the box and assemble the figures by gluing them together. Next, you spray on a primer coat so that the paint sticks to the figure. Third, you paint the figure the color of your choice. After the paint dries, you need to wash the figure with a colored wash to accent the little grooves, lines, etc. (Now, you dont HAVE to do the wash, but as you can see in the pictures below... not having the wash makes it look kinda wierd). Lastly, you spray on the clear coat so that the figure will last for a long time and continue to look bad ass.
The above figure has a wash coat for details.
The same figure without the wash coat. Notice, no accents on lines and details. And lastly, my "tank" figure. Basically, my big bad azz guy to clean up the field.
This is the Soul Grinder. Basically, he's gonna mop up the table with the little guys all day long. And to give you an idea of how much bigger this figure is than the space marines.. see below.
Run, Run, Run for your lives!!! HAhahahhaha.. So that's what ive been up to lately. And also a few things with the is300. I have plans for some more modifications and stuff, but its not really a priority being that the car just gets me from point A to point B. Maybe some rims.. eh, who knows.. Alrighty peoples, see you next time. |
